carolyn angleton

Carolyn Angleton is a bioartist in Sacramento, California. She holds a MFA from RISD in Studio Arts, and a BFA from Colorado State University in Printmaking. She has taught at the university level in California since 1989 in the fields of foundry, sculpture, drawing, critical theory and feminist studies. Her artwork has been shown internationally, including venues at the Verbeke Foundation in Stekene, Belgium, Academia National de Bellas Artes, Lisbon Portugal, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, National Women’s Museum in D.C., Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento, Fresno Art Museum and Oceanside Center of the Arts. She has done bio art residencies and research at the Djerassi Program in Woodside, Ca, the School for Visual Art’s Wetlab in NYC, the Microbiology Department at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland, and at Cultivamos Cultura in Sao Luis, Portugal. She lives with her two children in the northern foothills of California, where she creates bioart and cultivates experimental gardens.
