Biotechnology Engineer (Instituto Politécnico Nacional, Mexico), Founder and CIO at Ingenex Lab, an independent R&D lab aiming to develop novel biotech, bioinformatics, and synbio projects for agriculture. He is also Co-founder of Allbiotech, a NPO looking to create a youth-leadership community to foster biotech development at Latin America (allbiotech.org). During his thesis work, Daniel explored the current biotech legislation in Mexico and defined strategic guidelines for the establishment of pertinent policies for synthetic biology regulation (https://goo.gl/qVtPtS). His work was used by the Mexican regulatory authority in biotech (CIBIOGEM) as a key reference for its synbio working group (GTBios). He is one of the

founding members of the Mexican Network for Synthetic Biology, and former iGEMer (Cinvestav-IPN-UNAM 2012). Daniel is a member of the Public Research and Regulation Initiative (prri.net), a worldwide initiative of scientists involved in modern biotechnology for the public good and was a member of the PRRI Delegation at the 13th Conference of the Parties for the UN Convention of Biological Diversity (CBD) and 8th Motion of the Parties for the Cartagena Protocol; exploring the implications of synbio, gene editing and other novel biotechnologies for biodiversity and biosecurity. Daniel is an active biotech activist, he created Biothink, a digital community of Mexican and Latin American biotechnologists, looking to promote the benefits of biotech for health and agriculture beyond myths and fears.

He was chosen as one of the 100 Leaders of Tomorrow at GapSummit 2014 for Global Biotech Revolution, and is currently a member of the organizing committee of the First Latin American Summit of Youth Biotech Leaders, an event that will join current biotechnology leaders with the most promising young professionals to explore and discuss the challenges for biotechnology in the region.
