Heather is the co-founder of Denver Biolabs, the first non-profit community DIY-bio lab in Colorado. Heather is a computer scientist by training, but has always loved working at disciplinary intersections to promote accessibility and equality. She has worked in India on collaborative educational games for public school children, in Kenya on clinical decision support systems for midwives and nurses, and in Colorado as an assistant professor of human-centered design and innovation. She now runs Denver Biolabs full-time, teaching workshops, working on projects with the community, and promoting synthetic biology education and access throughout the state.
