John Girgis

I received my Master's in Biochemistry from the University of Ottawa. During my graduate studies I studied transcriptional regulation and its phenotypic effects in Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Post-Master's my dream is for synthetic biology to become the default method for humans to interact with our natural world, and for After iGEM and Biotown to be a big part of realizing that dream. Currently, at Biotown we're working on water-testing initiatives and helping design portable labs. My interests include teaching, data science, squash and the intersection of computing and biology.
