Katia Zolotovsky

I am a biodesigner working with synthetic biology and programming living materials for architectural applications as a new form of creative engineering and design. I hold undergraduate degrees in architecture (B.Arch.,06') and biology (B.A.,97') and graduate degrees in Computational Design (SMArchS, Ph.D.,17'). I am currently a postdoctoral associate at the Weiss Laboratory for Synthetic Biology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, combining research with teaching design studios. In both my research and teaching, I integrate biological and biomimetic design principles with the digital fabrication methods for innovation in design and architecture.
