Luc Henry spent around ten years exploring science in various ways and places in Europe. His strong interest for (bio)ethics, science communication, the hacker culture and the moving boundaries of the research environment led him to leave his academic laboratory and a synthetic biology project to explore new avenues. He co-founded the DIYbio community laboratory Hackuarium in the spring of 2014 while still a post-doc at EPFL in Lausanne, Switzerland. In 2015, he was the Managing Editor of European science magazine Technologist. He then worked at the Swiss National Science Foundation before taking his actual position as an advisor to the President of EPFL on issues related to Open Science. He is also half the brain behind the Science Booster, a crowdfunding platform for science projects in Switzerland. Luc holds a PhD in chemical biology from the University of Oxford.
