Nels Shafer

Nels (he, him, his) is an undergrad pursuing an individualized degree in Biology, Art, and Japan studies at the University of Minnesota. He received a grant to introduce biology-based tools to an open co-laboratory housed within the Art department and is currently modifying a 3D printer into a low cost bioprinter with plans for playful applications in the future.

Other recent work includes developing and leading a summer seminar on origami-inspired engineering + design for HLAB in Japan, creating a modular furniture set, and TA-ing Human Biology.

Nels loves finding small worlds, learning new skills, and making almost anything.
