nicole bakker

Nicole Bakker works at the MIT Community Biotechnology Initiative in the Media Lab and is a second-year master's student in Design Engineering at Harvard. Formerly trained as a structural engineer, she combines biology, design and science to foster a transition towards energy efficient buildings and bio-based materials. Her book, Photovoltaics in Historical Built Environments (2013) inspires architects and policymakers to integrate PV-technology in cultural heritage. She was awarded a Fulbright scholarship and is recipient of various awards for her undergraduate studies in the Netherlands. In her free time, Nicole enjoys figure skating, dances Argentine tango and occasionally writes poetry.
