Orlando de Lange

Orlando is a plant synthetic biologist, employed in the Klavins lab at the University of Washington in Seattle. He is currently exploring ideas for an end-to-end automated system to engineer plant stress responses at the genetic level. This involves plenty of hands on work with plants as well as getting to grips with the laboratory automation system of the Klavins system and adapting it to his needs. Both plant genetic transformation and automation systems are topics he is trying to bring to the wider biocommunity, engaging at the local level with groups including SoundBio.
