As a plant synthetic biologist I am keenly aware that biotechnology disconnected from both the understanding and the actual wants and needs of non-academics is counterproductive, that's the inspiration behind The Oxalis Project at SoundBio in Seattle, which I've been running since early 2018. I see a huge amount of good coming from the DIYbio movement, and want to help it grow.
