Sarah Blossom Ware is a plant molecular geneticist with a doctoral degree in Plant Sciences from Wageningen University in The Netherlands.  Science Closet, a grassroots start-up, was created out of her overwhelming desire to teach scientific concepts and hands-on experimentation to children as well as curious adults.  Science Closet offers Biology Boxes such as the DNA Extraction Biology Box and also offers hands-on laboratory workshops such as the Genetic Profiling Workshop during which participants extract their own DNA, amplify fragments via PCR and then visualize profiles via gel electrophoresis.  In addition, Sarah is an adjunct biology professor at Benedictine University and College of DuPage.  She is currently striving to create a community biohacking space in the Chicago suburbs.
