shannon johnson

Shannon is a graduate student at the MIT Media Lab in the Synthetic Neurobiology group run by Ed Boyden. Her scientific interests range widely from directed evolution and neurobiology to microfluidics and hydrogels. In her spare time, she loves engaging the community in biology through mentoring, teaching, and volunteering with Street Bio. Shannon is currently involved in the Biota Beats project and Youth Science Initiative at Street Bio; she would love to talk to you about the sonification of microbiota growth (Biota Beats) and the storytelling of data.
