Researcher in Synthetic Biology who has become entrepreneur, Thomas works on making research and innovation more inclusive and responsible by fostering links between Sciences et Society. While doing his PhD in Synthetic Biology, he cofounds in 2011 the first French Biohackerspace La Paillasse. He later left academia to focus entirely on the development of La Paillasse who became then one of the most active and largest community labs in the world. In 2017, he leaves La Paillasse to work on the digital platform laboratory Just One Giant Lab (JOGL) which will help sync communities onto solving important challenges using open technologies and knowledge and will provide them with opportunities to do so. He is also the cofounder of PILI, a SynBio startup that uses fermentation to convert sugar into colors for the industry in order to replace petrochemical dyes. In June 2018, he became a member of the French National Digital Council which advises the French government on the use of digital technologies. He is also working with the iGEM Foundation to help communities create even more positive impact on the world using Synthetic Biology.
