After a short career as an engineer in industrial insect breeding, Winnie initiated the community biolab ReaGent in Ghent (BE) together with a group of friends. There he collaborates with designers, citizens and artists on biodegradable materials and other bio-related projects. He helps teach children, minorities and teachers in the nonprofit Ekoli, launched by a group of community members at ReaGent, which aims to transform science education with the principles of DIY science.

Winnie also shares his expertise on communication and collaboration in and around science and technology through workshops and projects for scientists, institutions and businesses with his colleagues at Break it Down.
